Stratasys FDM Material Comparison Chart: Properties & Printer Compatibility
Picking a Stratasys material usually means opening a dozen datasheets in a dozen tabs. This chart puts 26 Stratasys FDM materials side by side, from ABS-M30 and ASA to ULTEM™ 9085, ULTEM™ 1010, Nylon 12CF and Antero PEKK, with tensile strength, stiffness, elongation, heat deflection, support material and the printers that run each one.
Filter by the properties your part needs (high heat, chemical resistance, ESD, flame retardant and more), narrow it to your exact printer, or click any column to sort. Every row links to its Stratasys datasheet.

How to Read the Matrix
- Tensile XZ / ZX: XZ is strength in the build plane. ZX is strength pulled across the layers, which is almost always lower because layer bonds are an FDM part’s weak point. If your part takes load across its layers, design to the ZX number.
- Flex modulus: stiffness. A higher value means less bending under load. Carbon-fiber grades lead here by a wide margin.
- Elongation: how far the material stretches before it breaks. Higher means tougher and more forgiving; lower means stiff but brittle.
- HDT @ 0.45 MPa: heat deflection temperature, the point where the material starts to soften under a light load. Use it to rule out materials for hot environments.
- Support material: soluble supports dissolve away for complex internal geometry. Breakaway supports are removed by hand.
Properties are typical published values. Always confirm against the current Stratasys datasheet before you commit a critical part.
The Leaders in Each Category
- Strongest (XZ tensile): Antero 840CN03 at 94.9 MPa, then Antero 800NA (86.7 MPa), VICTREX AM 200 (84.0 MPa) and FDM Nylon 12CF (83.5 MPa).
- Stiffest: FDM Nylon 12CF at 11.10 GPa flex modulus, roughly double the next material, PA6/66-GF30-FR (5.60 GPa).
- Most heat resistant: ULTEM 1010 at 216°C HDT, then PPSF (195°C), ULTEM 9085 (176°C) and FDM Nylon 6 (173°C).
- Most flexible: FDM TPU 92A, with 482% elongation at break.
Running These Materials on a Fortus You Already Own
A material being listed for your printer doesn’t mean your printer will accept it. Many Fortus machines ship licensed for ABS only. Our Fortus material license unlock enables the rest of your printer’s supported library remotely. Remember that PPSF needs a Fortus 400mc or 900mc (or a 450mc/F900). It won’t run on a 360mc or 380mc, though ULTEM 9085 and 1010 will.
Once a material is unlocked, you don’t have to run it on OEM canisters. The Dimension/Fortus filament refiller and Fortus Plus 10kg EEPROMs let you run third-party filament. To see what that does to your cost per part, try the Fortus print cost calculator.
Stratasys Material FAQs
What is the strongest Stratasys FDM material?
By XZ tensile strength in this chart, Antero 840CN03 (PEKK with carbon nanotubes) is the strongest at 94.9 MPa, followed by Antero 800NA at 86.7 MPa, VICTREX AM 200 at 84.0 MPa and FDM Nylon 12CF at 83.5 MPa. Nylon 12CF is also by far the stiffest, with an 11.10 GPa flex modulus.
Which Stratasys material has the highest heat resistance?
ULTEM 1010 has the highest heat deflection temperature in this chart, at 216°C (HDT @ 0.45 MPa). It’s followed by PPSF at 195°C, ULTEM 9085 at 176°C and FDM Nylon 6 at 173°C.
What is the difference between XZ and ZX tensile strength?
XZ tensile strength is measured in the build plane, and ZX is measured across the printed layers. Because FDM layers bond less strongly than the extruded material itself, ZX values are lower for every material in this chart. Design to the ZX value when a part will be loaded across its layers.
Can a Fortus 360mc or 380mc print ULTEM or PPSF?
ULTEM, yes: both ULTEM 9085 and ULTEM 1010 run on the Fortus 360mc and 380mc. PPSF, no: it needs a Fortus 400mc or 900mc, or a 450mc or F900 on the Plus series. Use the printer filter in this chart to see only the materials your machine supports.
